After summer, one teacher approached the student body with the need for IT support for seniors in our community, as the city library reached out for help. I signed up to volunteer with a few other students, and we decided to found a student company. Our name was 'ITeens', and every Saturday, we would sit in the local library for a couple of hours and help the elderly with their struggles on their smartphone, laptop and other devices. While issues were as small as wanting to change the password of the device or as large as having to reset the entire computer, our customers very much appreciated our help and support, as many of them did not have younger family members living close by who they could ask for these smaller questions. Since we were a student company, we only took 2€ for a half an hour session; since I was the responsible bookkeeper of the company I kept track of our income and spending, which included, for example, advertisements for our company, such as pens and flyers.

Through this experienced I gained insights into the basics of bookkeeping and how to use such softwares. Being there at our weekend sessions strengthened my communication skills with a group of people I rarely interact with and my own knowledge about devices and brands I don't usually work with. Over the year, the company became a great team, we enjoyed working together and being able to help a lot of people.
