Public Relations Officer - Career Committee, ESN Utrecht

From August 2021 until June 2022, I was part of the student association 'Erasmus Student Network', a network that is active throughout Europe and has focus groups in every major university city. ESN's main goal is to offer a space for international students, and ESN Utrecht consists of several committees: Internal events, Activities, Culture, Introduction, Journalism, Party, Promo, Pub Quiz, Social Inclusion and Career Committee, which I decided to join. In the International Career Committee, I took over the role of Public Relations Officer, meaning I was responsible for creating the advertisements for our events. Our events focused on how internationals could find their way into the Dutch job market after they graduated - we hosted LinkedIn and Interview workshops, invited UU Alumni to share their experience and overall established a space in which ESN members could exchange their plans, ideas and wishes for their future and find likeminded people to extend their network with.

Through my position, I gained skills and knowledge in the sphere of online marketing, social media management and communication with our participants. I created Instagram stories, Facebook events and content for our website to inform the ESN community and persuade them to join our events. Throughout the year, I became close friends with my other committee member and met some very interesting participants, Alumni and workshop hosts, and I am very grateful to have had this experience. I am keen on continuing my work with ESN and the Career Committee and have taken over the role of Treasurer for the year 2022/23.
